Seasoning the Irons

The Underground Food Collective here in Madison, Wisconsin, has been a staple supporter of my work since when I was first showing the cast iron skillets of the Midwest in their restaurant. Their friendship with my studio work is something magical, indeed. It’s where the slow-foodie-nation meets DIY artist, and they contributed not only their glorious space and great camaraderie with me, but also a whopping 28.3 #’s of grass fed goat + pork fat to season all 48 state shaped skillets for ArtPrize !
Let’s just say, my piece now has aromatic nuances that recall a hunger for bacon ! Hahaa!
It’s pretty intense !

Chi-Town Radio segment !
Quite the Halloween, if i don’t say !
So during my visit to Chicago this past weekend for the 2011 Halloween Iron Pour, I had the opportunity to hang out with the crew at the Down and Dirty Radio show with Frank Fontana. Check out my spooky appearance here :
These guys were a hoot ! Love me some Chi-town folks ! The pour went beautifully and out of this one, ( the 3rd Fe pour in October for me ), was born the last two cast iron pig-pans for the SlowPig event that happened the very next day! This party took place back in Madison WI, hosted by Chef Dan Fox and the Madison Club , including a slew of ahhmazing heritage pig connoisseurs and local resteraunts from both Milwaukee and Madison to help celebrate the PIG !
